Attendance Board: Touchscreen Check-In at Your Entrance

Morning drop-off is one of the busiest moments of the day at any daycare. Between greeting children, managing staff ratios, and keeping an eye on arrivals, tracking who is present — and when — can easily fall behind. The new Attendance Board feature in MyDaycare Plus puts a real-time check-in station right at your entrance, run by parents themselves.

What Is the Attendance Board?

The Attendance Board is a dedicated screen — installed on a tablet or any touchscreen device at the entrance of your daycare — that lets parents register their child's arrival and departure directly, without any staff involvement.

The board displays all enrolled children, grouped by class, each with a clear status:

  • Present since [time] — the child has been checked in
  • Departed for today — the child has been checked out
  • Arrival not registered — the child has not yet been checked in

At a glance, staff can also see the live count of children currently present (e.g. 3 out of 7), without having to check any reports or ask around.

Security First: A Dedicated Access User

Because the Attendance Board is a permanent, logged-in screen accessible at your entrance, security is essential. MyDaycare Plus handles this by giving the board its own restricted user account — one that has access to the attendance board and nothing else.

To set this up, go to:

Administration → External Users → Create

When creating the new user, you will see two access type options:

  • Administrative access — full access to the entire application, including sensitive financial data. For authorized staff only.
  • Attendance Board (parents) — access exclusively to the attendance board. When this user logs in, the board opens automatically and is the only page accessible.

Select Attendance Board (parents), give the user a recognizable name (e.g. Tableau Présences) and a dedicated email address, then save. That's it — the credentials for this account are what you will use to log in on the tablet. The password will be sent to the email address you provided.

Setting Up the Tablet

Once the external user is created, log in on your tablet or touchscreen using the MyDaycare Plus mobile application. Use the attendance board credentials you just created.

As soon as the session opens, the board displays automatically. There are no other menus, no navigation, no access to any other part of the system. The screen is locked to the attendance board for as long as that user is logged in.

How It Works for Parents

The experience for parents is intentionally simple. When they arrive in the morning, they tap their child's card on the screen to register the arrival. When they pick up in the afternoon, they tap again to check out.

No app to open. No paper to sign. No waiting for a staff member. Just a tap, and it's done — with the timestamp recorded automatically in MyDaycare Plus.

Always in Sync with the Internal Dashboard

Every check-in and check-out registered on the Attendance Board updates the staff's internal dashboard in MyDaycare Plus instantly. There is no delay, no manual sync — the moment a parent taps the screen, the information is live for your team.

This also means the board is never the only way to record attendance. If a parent forgets to check their child in, a staff member can do it directly from the internal dashboard. And if something was submitted incorrectly — wrong time, wrong child, a missed departure — staff can correct it from their side without any friction. The two views always stay in sync.

Why It Makes a Difference

The Attendance Board saves time every single day — for parents who no longer need to flag down a staff member, and for educators who no longer need to manually log arrivals and departures. Attendance data flows directly into the system in real time, keeping your records accurate without any extra steps.

It also brings a professional, modern feel to your entrance that parents notice and appreciate.
